This is just the sort of walk to limber up tired bones after a hectic week at work. The only real effort is at the beginning as you go up Locksash lane, but that is very short lived. This is a favourite walk of a lot of the villagers.

Start at Victoria Inn   go down the hill, over the road and up Locksash Lane to

(Point 1) Turn left. As you continue to climb the hill you should be able to enjoy views back down the valley to W. M. Go on to (Point2) ignore the

(Point 2) Walk down this lane but take care because there are lots of tree roots specially designed to trip you up. The views across the valley are superb, and even on a cold windy day the trees afford a lot of shelter.

(Point 4) In Compton there is a pleasant but very naughty tea room. When you drag yourself away from the sticky buns make you way to the road and turn left.

(Point 5) Walk down the hill for about 100 yards to old post office cottage. On the other side of the road opposite this cottage is a finger post (The finger post is not very visible for this path keep a good watch out for it).

(Point 6) As you walk diagonally across the field, you will come to a small forest Go through a kissing continue up the hill through the forest

(Point 7) Go through a kissing gate and up the hill. Carry on up the hill crossing a path and go down a short hill to a kissing gate

(Point 8) Turn immediately left on getting through this gate and follow the path that is nearest to the fence on your left. Follow this path until you reach the road, then turn left and back to your starting point.

A free laminated map is available at the pub. All we ask is that you return it when you have finished with it or pass it on to a friend. It would be a crime to bury it away in a drawer and forget it.
