Some walks you simply look at the profile, and know your in for a challenge. This is just one of them. That said you will be rewarded by the finest views in Sussex, and a whole myriad of colours even on a dull day. If you weren’t addicted to the downs before you did this walk you will be when you’ve finished and there is no cure.

Start at The Blue Bell Cocking   Cross the road and go down lane behind the post office Point1 = carry straight on to

Point2 = Steps on right go up these steps and through the field to Point3 = yellow post turn right up the hill. Point4 = 2 finger post follow as path leads through forest to Point5 =  Kissing Gate go through and continue up the hill. The path is vague here, but you will see Point6 =  gate on your left after about 300 yards. Walk through gate and work your way diagonally across field. ( again, the path is a little vague.) at Point7 there are two finger post you go straight across and go down to Point8 = 4 finger post turn right and follow as path leads to Point9 = 2 finger post bear left and down the hill to Point10 = 2 finger post several paths merge but you carry straight on to Point11 =  2 finger post carry straight on Point12 =  blue post take the left path and carry straight on to Point13 = Downland post you turn left here and follow track down hill to Point14 = 3 finger post carry straight on Point15 = an entrance to Levin Down nature reserve. Turn left at Point16 =  again turn left and follow as path leads to Point17 = gate go through and pass an old barn on your left to Point18 = a path from your left turn left here and go uphill to Point19 = yellow post bear right. Carry straight on to Point20 + 21 =  yellow post again carry straight on to Point22 =  yellow post carry straight on to Point8 =  then at Point7 =  turn left and follow south downs way downhill to Point23 = 2 finger post carry straight on to Point24 =  2 finger post carry straight on to Point25 =  turn right at sawmill down past farm to Point 26  = camping site one left. Carry straight on back to cocking and back to the pub. Now you re ally deserve a pint.
